Used Audi R8 For Sale

Several considerations have a factor in the purchase price of an Audi R8 for sale. These are All Wheel Drive cars with four axles and three differentials. The early cars also had a single clutch automatic, and the clutch replacement cost is considerable. As long as all service records are available, an R8 can be a reliable daily driver. Six-speed manual versions are collector’s items and destined to increase in value.

2007-2012 Audi R8
First Generation
In 1998, Audi AG combined their engineering abilities with Italian design when the company took over Lamborghini. The cooperation yielded a potent AWD supercar: The R8. Starting with a solid foundation of the Gallardo’s chassis, early production models were powered by the same 4.2L V8 found in the RS4. Based on the LeMans Quattro concept car of 2003, R8 coupe debuted in 2007. A new halo car for the brand, it was a much-needed flagship that spawned a host of special edition models. Options like the coupe or spyder with V8 and V10 power is soon to be joined by the R8 e-Tron for 2018. Built by Quattro, the high-performance division located in Ingolstadt, R8 uses carbon composites and an aluminum space frame to keep weight at a minimum.

2007-2012 Audi R8 Specs/Dimensions/Performance
Early cars were V8 powered and rated at 420 hp. This produced a respectable 0-60 time of under 5 seconds. The V10 was rated at 525 hp and 391 lb-ft. With proper throttle control, the V10 can reach 0-60 mph under 4 seconds. Although manual transmission cars were produced, 99 percent of R8 production used the R-Tronic single clutch automatic. Not content to rest on their successes, the V10 model was reinforced and molded into a convertible, and the Used Audi R8 was launched in the first quarter of 2010. In late 2011 the 5.2L V10 engine became available for the Spyder.

Audi R8 GT
The GT was a limited run of V10 powered coupes and Spyders that made extensive use of composites to shed 220 pounds from the curb weight. Only 90 coupes and 50 Spyders made it to the US. The R8 GT also saw a healthy upgrade to the engine, with power jumping from 525 to 560 hp.

Audi R8 Lease
Depreciation in the supercar world sets in as soon as the purchase agreement is signed, so leasing is a wise decision for a few reasons. The company great incentives on R8 leases and the R8 is always being improved.

Audi R8 MSRP-Price
When the R8 launched, a well-equipped V8 model could be had for around $130,000. The 2017 Audi R8 price rises to $162,900. The car has evolved quite extensively, making the R8 price increase a viable number.

Audi R8 First Generation Refresh
For 2014, the R8 received updated styling along with new CFRP body parts. The single clutch automatic R-Tronic was replaced with a dual clutch S-Tronic. More leather and less plastic on the inside, the interior received several upgrades.

Audi R8 V10 Spyder
By far the most popular body style, the R8 Spyder represents the flagship of the brand. With an unmatched refinement, they are a bargain compared to other cars in their class. The only drawback of having 10 cylinders and All Wheel Drive is less fuel economy compared to RWD competitors. Due to their low production numbers, depreciation is not a major concern, as the Spyder holds its value compared to the coupe and V8 models.

Audi R8 0-60
The potent, patented Quattro system launches to 60 mph in under 3 seconds. Launch mode requires the driver to hold the brakes while torque is rationed to all wheels as the active center differential works its magic. The R8 Quattro is not available in rear-wheel drive, which is why its acceleration is so revered.

Audi R8 Spyder
Audi builds the R8 in hard top for the ultimate in chassis rigidity, but by far the most popular model is the convertible or Spyder. Without the weight penalty of a retractable hard top, the soft top is automated and powered by a series of hydraulic actuators. The multilayer fabric includes thick acoustical insulation along with a thermal barrier for hot days. The powered rear window can be operated independently of the roof, which allows it to be used as a windbreaker when the top is down.

Audi R8 V10
Ten-cylinder, four stroke engines are hard to build, but nothing beats the sound and instant power of a naturally aspirated engine. It displaces 5.2L thanks to a 3.33” bore and 3.65” stroke. This makes the engine under square by a factor of 91%. Popular with hot rodders, long stroke engines allow the piston to spend more time at Top Dead Center, to take full advantage of slower burning high octane fuel.

Audi R8 V10 Matte Black
For a truly imposing entrance, the matte black R8 has been the choice for many customized listings. Many are done with vinyl wraps, which can be easily removed to preserve the factory paint. A matte finish hides many of the body’s contours from a distance, which makes them much more imposing up close.

Audi R8 MPG
Fuel mileage of the R8 is better than most of its competitor's thanks to a mostly aluminum construction. The 4.2L V8 is able to achieve 23 mpg on the highway, even with all-wheel drive. V10 models earn one pointless, but also boast 600 hp sent to all wheels.

Audi R8 2015
For 2015, the most significant update was the implementation of the 7-speed S-Tronic dual clutch transmission. It replaced the single clutch R-Tronic by offering faster shifts and increased reliability.

Audi R8 2016
This was a limited production year, as the factory had to be retooled for a new generation. Some Audi R8 cars are 1st generation and others are carryover 2015 models.

Audi R8 2017
The model year 2017 saw the launch of the 2nd generation R8 in the US. Again sharing strong ties with the Lamborghini Huracan, the new body style is familiar but incorporates styling cues from the latest A4 and A6. The all-wheel drive Quattro system has been heavily revised by changing the center differential from a viscous coupling to an electronically controlled unit. Torque sent to the front axles can be instantly rationed to help the driver regain control. The R8 has been a force to be reckoned with, as it offers tremendous power and abilities without the price tag of a supercar. Our dealers are ready to help you find the right model for you, so thank you for choosing the duPont Registry as your resource for your next car.

The stalwart 5.2L V10 is tuned to 540 hp, which allows 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds. The powered soft top is also faster, stowing away in under 20 seconds, operating at up to 31 mph. More carbon fiber allows for a dry weight under 3,600 lbs, a featherweight in the AWD convertible marketplace.

The center differential is water cooled for longevity and is able to shift 100 percent of the engine’s power, front or rear, faster than you can blink. So this means you could spend your weekends trying to lose traction, but your efforts will be futile. Another much-needed improvement of the Quattro system is a new freewheeling mode. Allowing the V10 to idle when decelerating or going downhill is just one of the new features aimed at improving fuel economy.
